The Yuncu (Yüncü) are nomadic tribes who have settled in Balikesir region, north-west Anatolia.  Their name, Yuncu, means “wool merchant”, as these nomads paid their taxes to the Ottoman Empire with wool of the highest quality.
Yuncu kilims are known for their simple design with limited color palette, generally madder red and indigo blue. This flatweave rug represents the classic Yuncu design with a series of ram’s horns (kocboynuzu) emerging from a pole.

Handwoven in Turkey using high grade handspun wool.
