Regular price $2,325.00This exceptional silk ikat chapan dates to the late 19th century and is a vibrant example of Uzbek textile artistry. The exterior features a bold and symmetrical ikat design in saturated hues of crimson, golden yellow, forest green, and ivory, hand-dyed using the traditional resist-dyeing method unique to Central Asia. The pattern placement and color clarity highlight the skill of the dyer and weaver, and the piece remains remarkably vivid despite its age.
The interior is fully lined in printed cotton featuring a charming red floral motif with contrasting gingham sleeves, reflecting the layered textile culture of the region. A narrow woven trim neatly finishes the edges and sleeves.
While this chapan is wearable, it is also highly suitable for display as a collectible textile art piece.
